Bronze Door Restoration

Every decade, the Basilica’s bronze entry doors need restoration and repair due to discoloration caused by weather and acid rain and the impacts of heavy use and sheer weight of the doors.  This project repaired the bronze finish, crash bars, hinges, and locking mechanisms. This process is similar to woodworking. They clean, strip and polish the doors and then apply a lacquer finish to protect the doors.
