After moving a few years ago we decided to "shop" for a new church. After years of attending the Parish we were "assigned to", we were looking for something but we were not sure what "it" was. "It" turned out to be The Basilica. For some reason it just felt like home. The size and beauty of the Basilica are natural attractors for people in the region and that was certainly part of it for us. Layer on top of that the meaningful liturgies and the decision was made. As our involvement in the community has grown, I've seen many people that are very active and involved in our community engaged in Social Justice, Christian Life and Learning opportunities. Another facet of this community is the diversity including age. Having people of all ages and backgrounds is a huge asset and speaks to the magnetism that we felt in being drawn here as well.
We support The Basilica Landmark because we believe that if the Basilica did not exist, the larger community would lose a vital asset and would be worse off for it. Preserving this wonderful place is a great legacy to assure that The Basilica is here and functional for not only our needs but that of future generations to come.
